I’ve mentioned this before, but a couple of blocks up the street from me is a house whose side yard borders the sidewalk. This is probably the fifth or sixth time I have taken pictures of the flowers in the that yard the past couple of years. The vast majority of flowers in this skinny 20 foot long garden are zinnias, but there are also a few coneflowers, and this season there were also a few cosmoses for the first time.
I’m pretty sure this skipper is on a zinnia since that’s the vast majority of flowers in the garden, but I can’t see the sepal so I’m not positive.
This is one of those “I don’t knows” that I see so many of.
Another “I don’t know”. Wild guess would be dogwood.
This, I’m sure, is a zinnia.
As is this.
And this.
A shot of a skipper on a zinnia to bookend the first photo in this post.
Thank you for stopping by.
David

Lovely images, David. Flowers make us happy as they freely share their beauty without asking much in return. Butterflies are icing on the cake!
The first two look like asters and the third is dogwood as you guessed.

Thanks Eliza. I thought the first looked like and aster also but I didn’t remember there being any in that garden so I was afraid to suggest that.

Hi David – really enjoyed your lovely pics , you get such super depth of field in all of them , so that the flower in each one is the star! Beautiful!
