Took a Walk Up the Street

About a half mile mile north of me, on the same west side of the street as me, there is a long skinny garden along the sidewalk.  Unlike all the other houses on this street, this house faces north because it is on the corner of a small side “street” with just one other house. The garden is about sixty feet long (just over 2 meters) and no more than three feet (0.9 meters) wide.  It’s skinny because the yard abruptly drops down about five feet from the sidewalk level. The garden has mainly zinnias but also some cosmos, cone flowers, and one gaillardia plant.

I’ve said before that zinnias are not my favorite plant, especially those with a big ball or globe shaped flower; however, I do love the art deco look of the zinnias’ sepals and I really like certain varieties of Persian carpet zinnias.  The ones I like have relatively small flowers and are primarily yellow with red tips or the inverse:  red with yellow tips.  Unfortunately there are none in this particular garden so I had to make do with the others, plus one gaillardia with a bee.

    • Thanks John, hope your getting cooler weather like we have the past few days. No more 80s and 90s with 100+ feel like temps. I was getting soaking wet from sweat just walking gout to the car. 🙂
