Okay we’re moving away from flowers and on to insects.
This is a green bottle fly; a type of blow fly. These are the types of flies normally used to determine how long a person has been dead or to date a crime scene on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and other crime shows on TV or in the movies.
This is a flesh fly – a disgusting name and for me flies are probably the most disgusting insect that I see on a routine basis.
This insect flies but it’s a skipper not a fly. Maybe skippers are not as abundant as flies but I see a lot more skippers than flies, except when I’m around trash cans or rotting organic matter – which I try not to be.
Whoa! How did that flower sneak in here. Oh yeah, it’s a zinnia. There everywhere too, at least in my garden.
This is the same green bottle fly as the first photo but I moved up closer.
Thank you for stopping by.
David
As usual, great macros. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great shots, David. Yes, flies are gross, but they serve a purpose, I suppose!

Thanks Eliza and your right. Everything in nature has it’s purpose, it’s just that a fly’s purpose is pretty disgusting.

In spite of the green bottle fly, can we assume you’re still with us? Amazing photos.

Yes I am. They had no interest in me as I still move around and have not yet begun to decay; I hope. Thank you for your comments.
